ABOUT US

StPauls-AboutUs-OurPromise-

St Paul’s Lutheran Early Learning Centre is an exceeding rated Service that is managed by Queensland Lutheran Early Childhood Services (QLECS). We are a Christian based Early Learning Centre centrally located in a quiet older residential suburb of Townsville, close to hospitals, JCU, four schools, two shopping precincts and only six short minutes to the CBD.

The Early Learning Centre sits on an acre of natural play space that allows children to climb trees, venture into the dry creek bed, investigate living habitats including reptiles, native stingless bees, and possums, grow their own food, be creative and embrace their imagination. The centre caters for children 6 weeks to 5 years and includes a registered Queensland Kindergarten program.

Our team of 20 plus passionate, caring, respectful professionals, lovingly and thoughtfully provide a safe, secure, and supportive learning environment for all children. We are a close-knit community that is big enough to cater for 92 children each day yet small enough to really care and know our families.

StPauls-AboutUs-OurStory-

The Early Learning Centre has been operating out of the St Paul’s Church building for over 60 years.

In 2019 we moved into our brand new six room Centre situated next door to the church. We have six different staff cultures and seven family cultures represented and embraced under one roof. We have four staff members with more than 15 years experience working at the centre. At St Paul’s we provide a safe, natural, caring environment where children learn to be responsible, respectful, resilient, caring and kind human beings. Through play our children are shown how to embrace the natural world and be kind to the environment its animals and plants. Our bucket filler, personal living skills and children’s safety programs promote kindness and understanding of others and sets us apart from other centres. We cater for the busy families looking for quality early learning for their children in a natural old world charm setting.

Childhood is not a race to see how quickly a child can read, write or count.
Childhood is a small window of time to learn and develop at the pace which is right for each individual child.

Our Mission

St Pauls Lutheran Early Learning Centre aims to provide high quality care for ALL children through a safe nurturing and happy environment. We believe that each child is a unique creation of GOD and a person loved by GOD. We strive to encourage the Spiritual, physical emotional social and Cognitive developmental building blocks that Support Children with a foundation for Successful learning.

Our philosophy

The young child is a gift from God (Psalm 127.3)

We are committed to quality outcomes for children and in doing so, are guided by ethical and  moral values, as we strive to reflect the characteristics of God especially love, justice, compassion and forgiveness.

We respect all cultures with an emphasis on learning the history and understanding the perspectives of our Nations’ First People.

Debbie – Previous Staff member

During our conversations at the program meeting it appeared to me that the Educators have become tired and needed a little recognition for the utterly amazing work they do. It is easy for me to see many strengths within the centre as I walk in with fresh eyes. What are our strengths, is a common question I here being asked?

Let’s take a look at the centre, the inside, Wow! The centre has so much space. There are rooms for the children to learn and Educators to teach; there is a great sized staff room; toilets at each end of the building; a separate kitchen for children to engage in cooking experiences; meeting rooms where staff can sit uninterrupted for programming time and a resource room which is simply amazingly well stocked and so many staff resources. The outside playground is a natural paradise.

The beautiful gardens; designated play areas for the climbing, building and recyclable play experiences; the sand pit, bike track, the music making gazebo and the lovely natural shady trees. This is really an inviting play space. Starting the day with yarning circle is something you all do so well. The songs, the stories and the interactions amongst multiple rooms. This is real quality for children’s learning. The relationships between many of the Educators is refreshing to see.

This was initially demonstrated during a transition group time from inside to outside play. I was sitting with the children when a child had a toileting incident, two Educators quickly came to lend a helping hand. The centre really has many passionate Educators who are here to do the best they can. It is heart warming to join such an inspirational team.

Thank you Kerry, to you and your Educators.
